People react to contemporary art in a variety of ways. Some wonder, “Is this really art?”  Others get goosebumps. During the lecture, we will learn how to enjoy contemporary art: we will discuss the major trends, artists, and ideas to make sure that this kind of art can be deep, exciting, and, most importantly, understandable.

We will define the time boundaries of contemporary art and find out in what historical and cultural background it developed.

We’ll take a look at some of the main trends: Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, and Pop Art.

We will learn what conceptual art is, get acquainted with its types and talk about new technologies.

We will figure out why contemporary art can cost so much.
